It’s the most wonderful time of the year… to get organized!

With Thanksgiving behind us, the time has come to stop stuffing! Rather than stuffing garbage bags and already-overfull closets with clutter at the last minute, just before company arrives, devote 15 minutes a day or a few hours a week to clearing the spots where clutter tends to accumulate.

Ready to get started?  When it comes to getting organized for the holidays, or any time of year, there is magic in these two familiar adages:

“Like with like” and “A place for everything and everything in its place”

To put these words of wisdom to work for you:

  • Sort what you have into categories.
  • Get rid of duplicates and things that are no longer of use to you.
  •  Give the things you keep a home near where they are used.

The fewer unnecessary things you have, the easier it is to find a good place to keep the things you love and use every day, so be selective in what you choose to keep.

When new things come in, make room by donating, selling, recycling, or throwing away an equal or greater number of old things.

Believe it or not, organizing is almost always more fun when done with others. Find a friend or family member who has an organizing project, too, and trade help. You’ll keep each other motivated, on-task, and enjoy each other’s company!

If you need more help or don’t know where to get started, call Abundance Organizing!

So give yourself the gift of organization this holiday season. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
